Physical Therapy works with residents to improve mobility, reduce pain, increase strength and endurance, and to improve stability to help our Residents return to their daily activities.
Physical Therapy includes:
- Exercises for strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility
- Training in bed mobility, transfer techniques, posture, and ambulation
- Recommending and Teaching adaptive equipment needs such as walkers, canes, sliding boards,
and orthotic/prosthetic devices
- Pain modalities including hot/cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, diathermy, and massage
Residents admitted to Valley View Home are seen by a licensed Physical Therapist to determine their impairment or functional limitation following an illness, injury, or surgery. The Physical Therapist then determines a plan of care that is reviewed by a physiatrist and begins treatment. Our goal for every resident is to assist them to achieve their highest level of independent function to get back to living their life. |
