Occupational Therapy helps our residents maintain or restore our residents activities of daily living including: eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, home management including meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, shopping, money management, and pet care.
Occupational Therapy includes:
- Exercises for strengthening, coordination, posture control, and flexibility
- Recommending and Teaching adaptive equipment including bathing, dressing, and feeding aides, slide boards, and how to functional maneuver daily activities with devices such as walkers
- Wheelchair seating and positioning
- Energy conservation techniques for day to day tasks
- Home safety evaluations to make recommendations for returning home
Residents admitted to Valley View are seen by a licensed Occupational Therapist to determine their impairments or functional limitations following an injury, illness, or surgery. The Occupational Therapist determines a customized plan of care for each resident that is reviewed by a physiatrist and begins treating. Occupational Therapy goals are designed to allow every resident to get back to living life at their fullest. |
