Advanced Wound Care Program

Our admission staff gathers information regarding new admissions. It is determined ahead of time if a specialty mattress is required. If so, a call goes to environmental services to place a specialty mattress on the bed. If special equipment is required such as a trapeze or a NPWT pump then our Central Supply staff correlates with environmental services and floor staff to get everything in place.

Advanced Wound Care devises such as NPWT pumps are highly effective in vacuum assisted closure of many wounds using a negative pressure wound therapy. We are currently using the Smith & Nephew brand successfully. We use quite a variety of dressings and products in our facility.

We treat pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, skin grafts, anterial ulcers, surgical wounds, trauma wounds, diabetic ulcers, with a focus on prevention. We are active with protective measures, incontinence management and ostomy instruction and management.

The most important member of our wound team is you. It is very important all your needs are met and you actively participate in wound healing. Our dietary department will provide you with the foods necessary to to promote optimal recovery. The dietician will review your likes and dislikes and make suggestions to add proteins when appropriate.

The activities department will keep you active mentally to enjoy your days. A happy person heals much quicker and the stress of illness can play havoc with wound healing. The nurses will monitor you; the treatment nurses will give hands on care. The medication nurses will give your medications as ordered to allow you to be comfortable and regain your well being. Our certified nurse's assistants will help you with all your activities of daily living. The restorative aides assist in our goal of getting you well. They will work with your range of motion and follow plans of care.

The therapy department is an asset as they are able to provide special therapies such as diathermy, ultrasound and electrical stimulation when prescribed. They work with you to improve and return you to your highest level of function. They work with all of us in helping with positioning and pressure relief.

We are fortunate to be able to have Dr. Roberto Gonzalez specialist in plastics and reconstructive surgery and
Dr. Gregory Fulchiero Jr. Specialist in dermatology as consulting physicians that are kind enough to make Valley View Home visits at bedside. Consults are also made out of the building for vascular needs when related to wound care, physicians are always of your choice. We also have many patients active with and follow up at the wound clinics available.
